May Day protest shuts down Guggenheim Museum

The Guggenheim Museum in New York was shut down at the weekend as a group of protesters occupied the art museum’s famous rotunda on Friday, causing the museum to stop admitting visitors. The activists were from the Gulf Ultra Luxury Faction (GULF) demanded to meet with the Guggenheim board members to discuss workers rights in the museum’s Abu Dhabi branch. The group unveiled a large red banner reading ‘Meet Workers’ Demands Now’ and distributed pamphlets asking for the Abu Dhabi workers to be given a living wage. Read more: observer.com
