Young Norwegians ski into the record books

A group of four teenagers have become the youngest Norwegians to ski to the North Pole. Over 600 children applied to take part in the TV programme ‘Oppdrag Nansen’ (Mission Nansen), in which they would follow in the skis of Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen. Nanson himself never actually made it to the North Pole on his expedition in 1895, but the four 13-year-olds braved a six-day mission in fog and temperatures of -20ºC to complete the challenge on Tuesday.
