Notorious Thai ‘temple’ forced to give up its captive tigers

A Thai tourist attraction known colloquially as the Tiger Temple is set to have its 147 tigers confiscated  by the Department of National Parks by this Friday. The ‘temple’ in Kanchanaburi, which allows tourists to pet and pose for photos with its captive big cats, has been linked to wildlife trafficking and animal mistreatment. Reports indicate the tigers will be transferred to the Khao Pra Thap Chang Wildlife Breeding Centre in Chom Bung district and Khao Son Wildlife Breeding Centre in Suan Phung district in Ratchaburi province.
