Japanese mangoes auctioned for more than $2000

A pair of specially selected mangoes from Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, has sold for ¥300,000 (US$2495) at a wholesale market auction. The ‘Egg of the Sun’ mangoes must meet strict weight and sugar-content criteria. The auctioned mangoes matched the record sale price for mangoes reached in 2014, and are set to be sold at a department store in Fukuoka. Read more: japantimes.co.jp
