China considers building a railway under Mt Everest to Nepal

A railway line connecting China with Nepal via a tunnel under Mount Everest could become a reality within the next few years. According to a report by Chinese state media, authorities are considering extending the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to link up with Kathmandu, including a tunnel under the world’s highest mountain. Plans to extend the line to the China-Nepal border are already underway, but an extension to Kathmandu could be completed by 2020, the report said. Read more: thestandard.com.hk
