Japanese centenarian sets swimming record

A 100-year-old Japanese woman has set the record as the first person of her age to complete a 1500m freestyle swim, competing in Matsuyama on the weekend. Mieko Nagaoka, who began swimming at the age of 82 to help with knee troubles, was the only person competing in her age bracket. Nagaoka has 24 international swimming titles, has written a book, and says she hopes to keep swimming until she is 105. Read more: bbc.co.uk
