Los Angeles plans metro system expansion

In a city known more for its traffic jams, public transport fans in Los Angeles can rejoice at the news that the city’s metro is expanding again. The Downtown Arts District, once a deserted, slightly dodgy part of town, has recently become LA’s coolest neighbourhood with fancy restaurants, cool condos and great cultural venues springing up, and in recognition of this the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is looking at building a new station in the area and expanding the Red and Purple lines. Critics who complain that this kind of infrastructure project takes too long to develop aren’t holding their breaths. Read more: latimes.com
