Endangered Iberian lynx spotted near Madrid

The world’s most endangered cat has returned to the countryside around Madrid for the first time in nearly 40 years. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) released several Iberian lynx in the province of Toledo more than 60 miles away last year and at least one of the felines has crossed several motorways to make it to the town of Aranjuez, 30 miles from Madrid. Scientists have been tracing the lynx’s movements using an electronic collar. Conservationists are now worried about the future of the cat unless Madrid’s authorities outline plans to protect rare species such as the lynx. Read more: telegraph.co.uk
