Fabled pre-Columbian ‘lost city’ discovered in Honduras jungle

Deep in the little-visited Mosquitia jungle in Honduras, an expedition team has unearthed the jungle-cloaked remains of an ancient city where locals are thought to have once worshipped a monkey god. The expedition team were seeking the fabled ‘White City’, which explorers have been hunting for since the time of the 16th century Spanish conquistadors. The civilization thrived 1000 years ago and was notable for its gold and ‘monkey children’; so little is known about the people that they do not even have a name. Read more: telegraph.co.uk
