Vienna's tallest wooden building raises fire concerns

The world’s tallest wooden skyscraper is to be built in Austria’s capital Vienna  in 2016, according to Austrian architects. 74% of the 84-metre high building, the HoHo project, will be constructed from wood for its environmental benefits and it’s believed it will save 2800 tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to a similar concrete building. The skyscraper will house restaurants, a hotel, apartments, offices and a wellness centre and is expected to cost around around €60m. The project has the Vienna fire brigade concerned and it will be working closely with architects to safety test the proposed structure. Read more: theguardian.com
