For rent: Hungarian village, including bus stop, sheep and cows

The largely deserted village of Megyer, with a population of 18 and located 180km southwest of Budapest, is up for rent. It has been advertised by the village mayor who is offering the prospective leaseholder a chance to be his deputy.

The mayor is asking for 210,000 forints (around €700) per day for the rent. According to the online advertisement, the leaseholder would have the right to use Megyer’s four streets, seven houses, mayor’s office, cultural centre and bus stop, as well as the village cooperative’s six horses, three sheep, two cows, poultry house and four hectares of land.
