Group of 19 manatees pulled from Florida storm drain and released into wild

A mass rescue operation has been underway in Satellite Beach, Florida, after at least 19 manatees became stuck in the city’s drainage system. The sea cows were lifted from storm drains and released back into the wild; none were harmed. It is not known why the animals made their way into the pipes, but it is thought the recent cold weather brought them closer to the warmer waters around the drainage pipes in the Indian River Lagoon.
