US lawmakers are expected to debate new rules that would allow pets on Amtrak, the US passenger train operator. The congressman who proposed the rule change hopes it will encourage more people to use passenger trains, rather than travelling on congested roads. Amtrak can make the decision on its own, but it’s still working out details like how long pets can travel in one go – they haven’t yet figured out how to let pets use the onboard bathrooms.
