Heavy snow in Istanbul brings traffic chaos

Heavy snowfall in Istanbul has lead to a ban on vehicles without chains on their wheels after some 841 traffic accidents were reported in the region. At Istanbul’s Atatürk airport passengers had to be rescued after their Turkish Airlines plane slid off the runway in the icy conditions. Flights are reported to be subject to cancellation until Thursday, when the worst of the weather is expected to ease.
