New Bhutan trekking routes plan in doubt

A plan for 11 new trekking routes in Bhutan seems to have stalled, despite being part of the government roadmap for Visit Bhutan Year. The new routes were announced by the prime minister on 6 February, but tourism officials are still awaiting instruction on where the new routes will fall, and on funding for creation of new trails. Although Bhutan is a popular trekking destination, even the existing routes are held back by limited infrastructure and poor maintenance of trails. Read more: kuenselonline.com
