Millions of dollars in lost cash handed in by Tokyo locals

Police in Tokyo have reported that residents handed in ¥3.34 billion (about $US 27 million) in lost cash over the course of last year, and most of this made its way back to the rightful owners. Also, despite the fact that any unclaimed lost property can be kept by the person who handed it in after three months, many reportedly did not exercise that right. Authorities have pointed to the figures as an example of the safety and security of Japan, a country where lost property is more often than not returned to its owners. Read more: japantimes.co.jp
