New distilleries key to thriving Scotch whisky trade

Scottish whisky now accounts for a quarter of total UK food and drink exports. The iconic spirit, which is exported around the world in blended and single malt form, is thriving, with around 30 new distilleries being planned or built across Scotland. The industry adds more to the British economy than shipbuilding, textiles or computing, directly supports over 11,000 jobs and contributes £5 billion to the UK economy, according to a new report.
