India celebrates Republic Day with parades, stunts and Obama

US president Barack Obama was guest of honour at India’s Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, which were marked by military parades and public displays of national pride. As well as troops showing off military hardware, the parade featured dancers, flamboyant floats celebrating the contribution made by different Indian states, and of course, the motorcycle stunt team of the Border Security Force, who executed a perfect rolling human pyramid along Rajpath, the ceremonial avenue leading to the Indian parliament. Republic Day celebrates the signing of the Indian constitution, which marked the emergence of India as a republic three years after independence. Read more: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
