Beach goers rescued by helicopter in South Africa

Twenty-one people were rescued by the helicopter after high spring tides cut them off from shore in a cove at Dappat se Gat, Kogelbaai. The group had ventured to the popular beach during the low tide of the current new moon, and had not realised the incoming waters would rise as high as they did. The NSRI said that using rescue swimmers or rescue boats was too dangerous, so the Western Cape‘s EMS rescue squad worked with the Red Cross AMS Skymed helicopter to hoist swimmers to safety.
