New walking trails open at historic County Down estate

Mount Stewart stately home, a popular tourist attraction in County Down, will expand dramatically this year. The eighteenth-century home is undergoing a £7.5 million restoration, and the purchase of 900 acres of land around it – part of its historic estate – will increase its overall size tenfold. The grounds will feature 20 miles of walking trails, which the trust that owns Mount Stewart hopes will increase annual visitor numbers from 160,000 to 250,000. Read more: bbc.co.uk
