Don't beep at the elephants - tourists to Thai national park warned

Tourists to Thailand’s Khao Yai National Park, near Bangkok, have been advised to avoid a main road – and popular wildlife passage – through the park in an effort to reduce clashes between elephants and humans. Conservation authorities have asked visitors to avoid entering the park from Prachin Buri’s Dan Nern Hom to the 3077 route and avoid turning off the car, honking the horn or flashing headlights (or using camera flashes) while confronting elephants. In three of four incidents since the New Year, elephants have attacked tourists’ vehicles, in one case because the driver honked the horn. Read more: bangkokpost.com
