D.H. Lawrence ranch seeks improvements

An isolated ranch in New Mexico once used as a retreat by novelist D.H. Lawrence is hoping to undergo renovations after years of disuse and shuttered doors. D.H. Lawrence groups around New Mexico have teamed up to raise funds to revitalize the aging literary site, which Lawrence visited with his wife in 1924 and 1925. Located in a mountainous region of northern New Mexico, the 160-acre ranch closed in 2008 due to a lack of funding, but it reopened in 2014. Supporters of the ranch hope to turn it into an artistic and cultural space, as well as a tourist attraction. Read more: nytimes.com
