Monuments to remember those who were murdered at Paneriai, in modern-day Lithuania, are to be modernised in order to draw awareness to the atrocity. Paneriai was the site of a massacre by the Nazis in the Second World War, during which 100,000 people were killed, most of whom were Polish Jews. An international competition to design an updated site drew 16 entries and the project will see the existing monuments preserved and the current educational centre expanded. Read more: thenews.pl
