The Federal Government of Australia is investigating allegations of backpacker exploitation in the Mildura area after travellers lodged complaints with the Fair Work Ombudsman just prior to Christmas. One operator is accused of charging $150 per week for a bed in a 32-person accommodation, charging fees to find fruit-picking work and paying backpackers on Working Holiday Visas as little as 60 cents per hour.  Read more: australiantimes.co.uk
