Annual Dakar Rally gets underway in Buenos Aires

The 37th annual Dakar Rally, the toughest competition in off-road motorsporting, began in Buenos Aires on Sunday. The 665 competitors represent 53 nations and will brave obstacles over some 5600 miles by motorcycle, quad, car and truck. Once they have covered Argentina, racers will proceed through the Andes mountains to Chile and Bolivia before returning to the Buenos Aires suburb of Villa Martelli.
