The travel review website Tripadvisor has been fined €500,000 by Italy’s competition regulator for publishing misleading information about the sources of its reviews. The seven-month investigation, which was prompted by complaints from consumers and hotel owners, found that the website did not do enough to flag up to readers that some of the reviews might not be genuine. The move was welcomed by the Italian federation of hoteliers, but Tripadvisor has said that it plans to appeal against the decision. Read more: telegraph.co.uk
