Frankfurt Airport guilty of security failures

The European Commission has found that weapons and dangerous items were successfully smuggled through security at Frankfurt Airport on more than half of the attempts made by undercover inspectors. The security failures were discovered during routine checks at the airport and have been blamed on inadequately-trained staff employed by a third-party contractor. A spokesman for the Commission explained that, where a specific airport was at fault, ‘the country concerned had to quickly set the problems right’. Read more: thelocal.de
