Santa Monica shuts down Farmers' Market pony rides
Santa Monica’s Main Street Farmers’ Market is perennially popular, with Angelenos stocking up on fresh fruit and veg, and letting the kids take a ride on the ponies. Until now. After complaints that the pony rides constitute animal abuse, Santa Monica council has decided not to renew the owner’s permit when it expires next spring, leaving operator Tawni Angel angry about the loss of income.
