Incredible footage emerges of lava engulfing villages in Cape Verde

The volcano on the island of Fogo in Cape Verde has been erupting since 22 November, and fresh rivers of lava have been filmed engulfing homes and farmland. This latest eruption on Fogo is the first since 1995 and the third in the last century – it has led to the evacuation of locals and the closure of the airport. Read more: independent.co.uk
