Broadway’s landmark Cafe Edison to close down

New York’s post-theatre crowd are going to have to look elsewhere for their hot corned beef and matzoh balls as Broadway’s much-loved Cafe Edison is to close on Sunday. The 34-year-old cafe, which was the inspiration behind Neil Simon’s 45 Seconds from Broadway, has lost its battle to remain open despite campaigns by ‘Lunch Mobs’ and social media petitioning. The Hotel Edison, where the cafe is located, have said they will not be renewing the lease. Owner Jordan Strohl hopes to open in a new space. Read more: gothamist.com
