Strong currents kill two British charity workers in South Africa

Two charity volunteers have drowned off the coast of South Africa a few days before they were due to travel back to the UK. Summer Robertson, 21, and Alice Barnett, 19, were overpowered by strong currents during an evening swim with three other British volunteers. Search and rescue volunteers, who were alerted to cries for help coming from the beach at around 8pm Thursday, managed to save three of the group. Summer Robertson’s body was recovered from the water and Alice Barnett’s washed up on the shore a day later. Read more: theguardian.com
