Midwest FurFest disrupted by ‘intentional’ gas leak

The sight of thousands of people dressed in furry animal costumes pouring out onto the streets of suburban Chicago may have looked comical, but the reason was nothing to smile about. The Midwest FurFest, an annual convention celebrating art and performance based around anthropomorphic animals, was disrupted on Sunday by a chlorine leak at the Hyatt hotel hosting the event; local police have said the nature of the leak suggests an ‘intentional act’. Nineteen people needed to be hospitalised and everyone inside the building were temporarily evacuated as technicians decontaminated the building. Read more: chicagotribune.com
