Maldives seeks US$20 million in donations for water crisis

Water supplies are still disrupted in Male, the capital of the Maldives, three days after a fire devastated the desalination plant which supplies the island with most of its drinking water. The cost of repairing the plant is estimated at US$20 million, and Maldivian diplomats are appealling to partner nations to donate funds for the project. In the meantime, locals are facing long queues at temporary water tanks and bottled water is being delivered from India by planes and the Indian Navy. Read more: minivannews.com
