Peru opens Machu Picchu for afternoon visits

The government of Peru will introduce afternoon visits to Machu Picchu in order to even out the load of visitors to the site at any given time. In recent years, the number of visitors to Machu Picchu has soared well above the daily rate recommended by Unesco – at present, around 80% of tourists visit the site in the morning hours. For a six-month trial period, afternoon entry will begin at 1 pm and costs 45 soles (about $15) for adults and 22 soles (about $7.50) for children. Read more: peruviantimes.com
