Long lost Beat-era letter expected to raise $500,000 at auction

A letter written by Neal Cassady which inspired Jack Kerouac and marked a pivotal moment in the Beat movement is to be sold at auction later this month. Cassady’s stream-of-consciousness style heavily influenced Kerouac and other writers but the letter was thought to have been lost until it was recently discovered in Northern California. The expected sale price is expected to be around $500,000 and San Francisco’s Beat Museum is hoping to raise enough money to successfully bid for the letter. Read more: reuters.com
