Red fire ants on the loose at Taipei airport

Red fire ants have invaded Taipei’s Songshan Airport, causing authorities to administer pest control measures. The ants, which are named for their painful bite, created numerous ant hills in the grassy areas around the airport. If left unchecked, a fire ant colony can cause damage to infrastructure and buildings, though no damage has been reported at the airport so far.
