Tourism rise helps to revive traditional Indonesian craft

The art of songket (hand-woven brocade) is reportedly flourishing once again in Flores thanks to the rising popularity of tourism in the province. Weaving groups have been formed on the island to meet rising tourist demand for intricate motifs such as the chicken-eye design mata manuk, which retails for around 500,000Rp (about US$42).
