Local police have warned travellers in Tobago to be mindful of safety after two German tourists were hacked to death last week. The chopped up bodies of Hubertus and Birgid Keil, who were in their 70s, were found at Bacolet Bay and the murder prompted local police to urge tourists not to travel to secluded areas by themselves. The UK’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has updated its travel advisory information on safety in Trinidad & Tobago following the murders, and carries comprehensive advice on safety and crime in the nation.
