Haiti ranks its hotels with hibiscus flower system

Haiti’s national flower, the hibiscus, is to replace the traditional star rating system for hotels across the Caribbean nation. Haiti’s tourism ministry has used the new system to reclassify 177 tourist accommodations, accounting for almost 5,000 rooms. Five hotels in the country, all located in or around the capital Port-au-Prince, have been given the maximum five-out-of-five hibiscus: the Karibe Hotel; the Inn at Villa Bambou, the Royal Oasis, the NH El Rancho and the Best Western Premier. Port-au-Prince’s iconic Hotel Oloffson was given three hibiscus. Read more: caribjournal.com
