Budapest’s Christmas markets open for the season

Budapest’s annual Christmas markets will be open from 28 November to 1 January. The main ones include the market at Vörösmarty square and the market by St Stephen’s Basilica. The Vörösmarty square is the most famous in town, and it includes various daily programmes such as choir concerts, folklore performances, book readings and workshops. The St Stephen’s Basilica market opened for the first time in 2011, and it also has an ice-skating rink in the middle. There are several other smaller Christmas markets around town.
