Ferguson demonstrations block roads in US cities

Two major highways in Oakland, California and the Lincoln Tunnel and FDR Drive in New York became blocked on Tuesday night as people took to the streets in cities across the US in support of the Ferguson protest. There were new, mainly non-violent, demonstrations in cities from Seattle to Greenville, North Carolina, and Minneapolis to Boston with many expressing their anger by blocking roads. In Nashville protesters walked into the heart of the entertainment district, mixing with tourists and shoppers, and shut down a major intersection. The hashtag #ShutitDown became a Twitter trend early on Wednesday morning. The protest first started in Ferguson, Missouri on Monday night after the grand jury decided not to indict police officer Darren Wilson for the fatal shooting of a black teenager in August.
