Elusive, ugly fish caught on camera in California

For some people the “black seadevil” anglerfish is the stuff of nightmares – misshapen, ugly and frightening. But for marine biologists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in California it’s an elusive and fascinating creature and they couldn’t have been happier when they managed to video one in its natural environment. The team caught the fish on camera at a depth of 1900 feet in the Monterey Canyon – only the sixth time ever the species has been filmed. Read more: sfgate.com
