British-Iranian ‘volleyball woman’ released from jail
The British-Iranian woman Ghoncheh Ghavami, who was imprisoned in Tehran for attending a volleyball game, has been released on bail. She served five months of a one year sentence for “propagating against the ruling system” as women are banned from watching live sport in public in Iran. Thousands signed a petition for her release and Ghavami went on hunger strikes to protest her detention. Read more: independent.co.uk
