Medical tourism on the rise in Eastern Europe

The medical tourism industry is experiencing a significant growth in Eastern Europe, particularly in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary and Croatia. Foreigners are increasingly visiting these countries’ efficient private clinics, where medical procedures not covered by insurance come at a fraction of the cost in western Europe or America. The new trend may help these countries retain their medical professionals who are emigrating due to the economic crisis in the region.  The clinics are advertising dentistry, plastic surgery, fertility treatments and wellness and spa packages on various international websites.
