Ancient Italian village remodelled as a 'high-end hotel'

When Italian-Swedish businessman Daniele Kihlgren stumbled across Santo Stefano di Sessanio in the Abruzzo region, it was just one of Italy’s many crumbling old hamlets, with crumbling old buildings and an ageing population. Now the whole village has been remodelled into a high-end ‘diffuse’ hotel, with its suites, restaurants and reception scattered around the hamlet in restored barns, stables, pigsties, and even an old medieval brothel.
