Japan’s new maglev train clocks 500km/h in tests

Currently Japan's fastest trains can only reach up to 320km/h.

Passengers have been able to experience Japan’s new maglev train, which hit speeds of up to 500km/h (311mph), as Central Japan Railway continues testing on the superfast levitating train in Yamanashi Prefecture. Nearly 30,000 people applied for the 2400 tickets to test-ride the train, expected to be operating by 2027. The fastest current trains in Japan can travel up to 320km/h. Read more: news.com.au
