German tourist robbed in New Zealand thanks public for help

A German cyclist who was robbed and assaulted while cycling in the forest in Northland, New Zealand, has thanked the public for their help. The 48-year-old tourist suffered head and facial injuries from the attack and is still recovering in the Whangarei Hospital. The police issued a statement from the man saying he would like to thank people for their generosity and support. His bike and camping gear have been found in bushland but police are still searching for the culprit as well as the traveller’s passport and other possessions. Read more: stuff.co.nz
