Equatorial Guinea controversial host for 2015 African Cup of Nations

With Morocco officially backing out of staging the 2015 African Cup of Nations due to fears over the Ebola outbreak, the Confederation of African Football (Caf) has accepted Equatorial Guinea’s last-minute offer to host the tournament. The move has proved controversial, particularly given Equatorial Guinea  had previously been banned from the upcoming tournament for fielding an ineligible player in the preliminary rounds, something they also committed in World Cup qualifying.
