Thailand passes bill to punish animal cruelty and neglect

Thailand’s government has approved the country’s first piece of legislation to punish people who neglect, torture or fail to adequately take care of animals. The new law covers domesticated pets, as well as animals kept for food, entertainment or any other purpose, with officials now permitted to search homes or businesses when they receive a complaint about animal cruelty. Wild animals such as tigers and elephants, however, are not protected under the legislation. Read more: bangkokpost.com
