Mysore name change has soap makers in a pickle

The decision to change city names in the Indian state of Karnataka, from Mysore to Mysuru, has put soap and sari makers in a difficult position. Mysore Sarees and Mysore Sandal Soap are national brand names, loved by millions of Indian shoppers, but Indian law prohibits the creation of brand names which are too similar to existing brands, which will rule out Mysuru Sarees and Mysuru Soap. However, the makers of the popular desert Mysore Pak have found a loophole which will allow them to rebrand as Mysuru Pak. Read more: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
